The Bible is not in heaven. This means there is no reading of the Bible that can be described as God's. God's followers must interpret it for themselves.
This does not mean there are not better and worse ways to read the Bible . Of course there are. The thing is, how do we tell good from bad readings?
Through endless debate, of course.
The Christian faith is an experience, guided but not determined by the Bible. Each context will generate its own readings and some of these will lead people in that context to God.
This is the nature of the adventure we embark upon when we read these texts in earnest.
